ArmInfo. The initiatives that follow the results of the meeting in Brussels, including those related to the resumption of railway communication, are underway and develop the trilateral agreements of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia dated November 26 this year. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced on December 24 during a weekly briefing.
According to her, their substantive discussion continues through a trilateral working group co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers of the three countries.
In this vein, she recalled that within the framework of this mechanism, a whole range of issues is being considered to unblock economic and transport links in the South Caucasus, including the re-operation of both rail and road transport links in the region. "As the heads of state in Sochi actually agreed, we are conducting a dialogue towards the earliest possible launch of specific transport projects. Of course, the media will be informed about the results of the working group, "Zakharova said.
Referring to the statements made by the leaders of regional countries, including the provocative ones, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed her conviction that all of them should strive for the same goal - they should work to achieve this result and create an appropriate environment. To the remark that the environment has not yet been fixed, Zakharova noted that the problem is certainly being fixed, but they are being worked on. "It is very important to shape and create an appropriate environment and do not get hung up and put existing problems at the forefront. We see all this, fix it, understand a lot, talk with the parties. But, you need to show positive aspects as well, "said a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry. To clarify how Moscow views the participation of European experts in consultations on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Zakharova once again drew attention to the fact that Russia proceeds from the agreements of November 26 and is moving towards the creation of a bilateral commission on delimitation between Azerbaijan and Armenia, with subsequent demarcation with the advisory assistance of Russia, at the request of the parties.
"At the same time, we welcome initiatives aimed at normalizing bilateral relations. It is very important, and the main thing is taking into account regional realities, the consent of Baku and Yerevan, as well as the added value from this. For our part, we will continue to provide all the necessary support to both Armenia and Azerbaijan, including advisory ones, "she summed up.
Zakharova also found it difficult to say whether any trilateral meeting is planned on the sidelines of the meeting of the leaders of the CIS countries in St. Petersburg on December 28. According to her, she has no such information.
