ArmInfo. The forthcoming weeks and months are going to see intensive negotiations with Turkey not in Armenia`s interests, the expert in Turkic studies Varuzhan Geghamyan wrote on his Facebook page as he commented on the reports on the appointment of Ruben Rubinyan as Armenia`s special representative at the negotiations with Turkey.
He is sure that it is only Turkey`s preconditions that will be on the negotiations agenda, which will result in Armenia`s further capitulation and concessions.
"Serdar Kilic, a professional diplomat, expert in Turkish interests, who is known for having coordinated various anti-Armenian initiatives aimed at denying the Armenian Genocide, has been appointed Turkish envoy plenipotentiary. On December 18, a report was circulated that a certain R. Rubinyan, who has no experience as a diplomat or negotiator or professional education, will be representing Armenia at the negotiating table with this political heavyweight and ideologically anti-Armenian diplomat," Geghamyan said.
According to Geghamyan, in the negotiations, which are of crucial importance for Armenia and all Armenians, as well as for Armenian nationhood, "the de-facto pro-Turkish government of Armenia has selected the weakest of all the possible candidates."
"Regrettably, it is not a just a wrongly selected staff member. Rather, it is one more concession and defeat to Turkey and Azerbaijan, which have been making consistent use of this group in Armenia and increasing pressure on us. I would like to remind you that the well-known disseminator of Turkish-Azerbaijani theses in Armenia, pseudo-scholar named Liparityan has been attached to that person [R. Rubinyan] as an expert advisor," wrote Mr Geghamyan. He is sure that in the near future any Armenian national value will be "watered down" not to "hurt" the Turks.
According to the expert, "the only way to avert this is to get rid of the anti-national authorities." On December 18, Vahan Hunanyan, Spokesperson for Armenia`s foreign office, reported that Ruben Rubinyan, Vice-President of the RA National Assembly, had been appointed Armenia`s special representative to the negotiations with Turkey.
Turkey will be representative by Serdar Kilic, a professional diplomat and ex-ambassador of Turkey to the United Sates, who has experience in working for the National Security Service of Turkey.
Thus, an experienced Turkish diplomat will negotiate with an inexperienced Armenian official, who came to power due to the velvet revolution. Experts believes the mission Mr Rubinyan, one of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan`s circle, will be executing the premier`s orders and signing all the papers previously agreed on.
