ArmInfo.Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan addressed the residents of Yerevan.
So, in his address to the townspeople on his Facebook page, in particular, he noted: "Dear residents of Yerevan, dear compatriots! So that they do not try to mislead you, at the moment I will say three important things:
1. I have never met Robert Kocharian, under any circumstances, even by chance;
2. If I had time for meetings outside of work, I would meet my children;
3. I have no desire or intention to cooperate with any party. "
Yesterday, the current ruling force began the process of expressing a vote of no confidence in the current mayor. The main reasoning is that he left the ranks of the ruling force, from which he was elected mayor of Yerevan.
Already late yesterday evening, the faction of the "My Step" bloc announced that it would nominate the incumbent first vice-mayor Hrachya Sargsyan for the post of Mayor of Yerevan.
"Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan left the Civil Contract party and the My Step bloc on his own application in December 2020. He confirmed his decision not to share political responsibility with the party and the bloc during the political events that took place after that and were decisive for democracy in Armenia.
Hayk Marutyan has failed to effectively fulfill and still does not fulfill the obligations undertaken by the "My Step" bloc to Yerevan residents, which were fixed in the electoral program.
He insufficiently fulfilled and is not fulfilling the most important mission of eradicating systemic corruption in the mayor's office of Yerevan.
The bloc cannot fulfill its obligations in a situation where the mayor severed ties with the political majority in the Council of Elders. The faction of the My Step bloc initiated the process of expressing no confidence in Mayor Hayk Marutyan, "the Bloc said in a statement.
It is also known that Bloc has already managed to gain the necessary votes to remove Marutyan. Meanwhile, the mayor himself said that he did not intend to leave his post.
