ArmInfo. The current situation in Armenia is unacceptable for the international community, Deputy Chair of France-Armenia Friendship Group Valerie Boyer stated this in an interview with the press service of the Armenian Parliament.
She stressed that today Turkey is not only a partner of Azerbaijan, but also one of the instigators of the war. "The conflict is frozen, but not resolved," she said.
According to Boyer, Azerbaijan's goal is to strangle Armenia by cutting off the only border with Iran. The MP defined what is happening as a continuation of the unpunished genocide.
"We have various tools at our disposal to influence this situation. The first is diplomacy. The Senate approved the resolution on the recognition of Artsakh on December 25 last year and the National Assembly on December 3. The second is the formation of a Friendship Group with Artsakh, which will give an opportunity to talk about Artsakh and its legal status. We also have other instruments within the EU, "she said.
In turn, Bruno Retailleau, Chairman of the Republican Party faction at the French Senate, noted that the French Senate was the first in Europe to adopt a resolution recognizing the independence of Artsakh, which can guarantee the future of the Artsakh people. "With this resolution, we say that we support Armenia and the Armenian people. You are not alone, we are with you and we will protect your interests, " the Senator said.
He noted that France and the OSCE Minsk Group have to stop Aliyev, since he attacked not only Artsakh, but also Armenia. "The international community must do everything to stop Aliyev and his ally Erdogan. I hope France will have an important role here", Bruno Retailleau emphasized.
It should be reminded that on November 25 the French Senate adopted a resolution recognizing the independence of the Republic of Artsakh. 305 MPs voted the adoption of the resolution, 1 parliamentarian . Thus, the resolution was adopted.
The parliamentarians condemned the aggression of Azerbaijan and Turkey against the Armenian people, calling on the government of the Fifth Republic to guarantee the right of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to self-determination.
