ArmInfo.Talking to Arminfor, the expert in Azerbaijani studies Tatevik Hayrapetyan stated that Armenia must by no means join the 3+2 format. Otherwise, it could be one more blow to the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process.
"In seeking to have Armenia involved in the format, Baku and Ankara are pursuing this very goal - settling the Artsakh problem as they think right. And they do not even conceal their intention. In rejecting the 3+3 format, Georgia points out its problems with Russia. But does not Armenia have problems with Azerbaijan and Turkey? Armenia`s premier speaks of the occupation of 41sq kilometers of Armenia`s territory. And in this context Baku goes on talking to us, issuing threats and using the language of force," she said. In this context, Mrs Hayrapetyan mentioned the OSCE Minsk Group and the trilateral format of settling Armenian-Azerbaijani problems with Russia`s involvement. According to her, the point on launching the border delimitation process in the Sochi statement is a step back from Yerevan`s previous statements. This process will turn into an instrument in Baku`s attempts to put an end to the Artsakh problem. According to the expert, the aforementioned points on the negotiations agenda are "a kind of mines laid under the Artsakh peace process." Mrs Hayrapetyan regrets Yerevan has not considered the risks. According to her, the wrong actions will only harm Armenia`s interests and only whet the appetite of Baku and Ankara. And the last year`s developments are only evidence thereof. As to the reason reasons behind Azerbaijan`s refusal to participate in the foreign ministers` meeting in Stocholm in the OSCE Minsk Group format, Hayrapetyan highlighted Baku`s goal to have the talks follow the 3+2 format. And Ankara is actively speaking of it through Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. The goal is to neutralize the OSCE Minsk Group. Yerevan is not clearly stating its position, but is only proposing outlining format agenda.
