As a result of the local elections in 36 enlarged communities, the Civil Contract party will head only 15 communities, believes Armenian Parliament Vice- Speaker, member of the Hayastan (Armenia) opposition faction Ishkhan Saghatelyan (Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun - ARFD).
"Opposition or non-party forces will head 21 communities and can form the local governments either by themselves or in alliance with others," Saghatelyan said. In Akhuryan, two opposition forces have stated their intention to form the local government.
The RA Prosecutor General`s Office has reported violations during the local elections in Ararat (12), Kotayk (12), Lori (6), with investigations launched into some of them. Among the violations are vote buying, multiple voting, wooing, putting obstacles to reporters.
According to the RA Central Electoral Commission, the Mamikon Aslanyan opposition bloc won a convincing victory in all the 63 polling stations in Vanadzor - 12,810 votes (38.71%). The ruling Civil Contract party polled 8,295 votes (25.06%), followed by the Labor Socialist Party of Armenia, 4,809 votes (14.53%). In Gyumri, the Communist Party of Armenia polled only 419 votes (1.26%). In Yeghegnadzor, the victory went to the opposition bloc David Harutyunyan, with the Prosperous Armenia party and the Democratic Alternative party being the core of the bloc, which won 4,399 votes (63.47%), with a voter turnout of 48.73%. the Civil Contract party received 1,747 votes (25.2%), followed by the 'Country to Live In' party (322 votes, 4.79%).
In Masis, in 40 of the 44 polling stations, the David Hambartsumyan opposition bloc received 13,378 votes (53.56%), followed by the Civil Contract party, with 11,595 votes (46.44%). The voter turnout was 46.88%.
According to the preliminary data, the Prosperous Armenia party polled the highest number of votes in Abovyan (5,231), followed by the Civil Contract party (4,279 votes) and the Republic party (1,124). With a voter turnout of 64.7% in Aparan, the opposition bloc Karen Yeghiazaryan received 7,421 votes (66.69%), with the Civil Contract party receiving 3,705 votes (33.31%).
In Talin, the Civil Contract party received 5,037 votes (46.63%), followed by the Awakening party, which forms part of the radical opposition Liberation Movement, - 2,882 votes (26.68%), the Hayk liberal party - 1,624 votes (15.03%) and Our Community party bloc - 1,258 votes (11.64%). The voter turnout was 55.93%.
Armenia`s ruling party won the elections in Ashtarak - 14,732 votes (79.04%), with a voter turnout of 35.55%. The ARFD received 2,730 votes (14.64%), followed by the Homeland party - 1,176 votes or 6.3%.
The Central Electoral Commission has not yet released data on all the polling stations.
