ArmInfo.On December 6, the Russian-Armenian Center for Humanitarian Response, together with the All-Russian Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergencies of the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia and the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia, will organize an international scientific-practical conference: "Historical experience of the Spitak earthquake - modern technologies of seismic safety".
The scientific-practical conference is timed to the thirty-three years anniversary of the Spitak tragedy. Over the years, the work on the prevention, monitoring and assessment of the consequences of earthquakes has led to the accumulation of significant experience that should be in demand and useful to the participants.
The conference and planned events will allow exchanging views and practical knowledge, choosing joint approaches, getting acquainted with the best practices in the field of protecting the population and territories from earthquakes and their consequences. Participants of various organizations from more than eight countries will discuss such topics as: automated monitoring systems, assistance to victims, minimization of secondary consequences of earthquakes, preparedness of civilians and much more.
In the practical plan of events, there is a joint work of specialists from the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia and the Ministry of Emergencies of Armenia with the "Struna" mobile diagnostic complex to assess the seismic resistance of buildings and structures. A unique diagnostic complex allows you to quickly and efficiently assess the stability of almost any building, to assess the risks from an earthquake in advance. And also with its help it is possible to determine seismic risks at the construction site of the future building.
After the conference, the participants will get acquainted with the work opportunities, material, technical and training base of the Russian-Armenian Center for Humanitarian Response, opened in 2016 on the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
The relevance and urgency of the Center's activities is confirmed by the participation of its forces and means in rescue operations, extinguishing forest fires, providing humanitarian assistance both in Armenia and in neighboring regions. A large number of training programs, conferences and other international events. The guests will be shown international demonstration exercises to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake, using the rescuers and means of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the Armenian Emergencies Ministry, the Russian-Armenian Center for Humanitarian Response, the Russian-Serbian Humanitarian Center, the Armenian Red Cross Society as well as rescuers from the Islamic Republic of Iran. At the end of the program, on December 7, the guests will visit the memorial to the victims of the earthquake in Gyumri.
