ArmInfo. The British Parliament is expected to discuss the Armenian Genocide bill in its second reading on Friday, December 10, the Armenian National Committee of the United Kingdom (ANC UK) reports on its Facebook page.
The MP John Spellar introduced the Armenian Genocide Recognition bill this May.
"This is the stage at which MPs are able to debate the principles of the bill. Whether or not the debate takes place depends on the parliamentary agenda of the day," the message reads.
On November 10, the House of Commons approved the Armenian Genocide Recognition bill. The debate on the bill`s second reading was scheduled for March 18, 2022. The ANC message read that the document contained three main points: first, official recognition of the mass killings of the Armenian population in Ottoman Turkey in 1915-1923 as a genocide; secondly, holding a day in commemoration of the Armenian Genocide victims; thirdly, raising the British public`s awareness of the Armenian Genocide and its importance for preventing modern-day crimes against humanity and military crimes.
