
ArmInfo. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi reiterated that Iran will never allow any form of insecurity and foreign presence in the region.
He made the remarks here on Saturday at a meeting with his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliev which took place on the sideline of the 15th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Summit in Turkmenistan's capital, Ashgabat, IRNA reports.
The Iranian leader noted that the two countries represented by their vice-premiers and foreign ministers have held effective talks. "I am sure that such meetings and discussions will contribute to the development of our relations," he said.
"We will never allow others to interfere in our relations. We ourselves must settle issues and deepen the mutually advantageous cooperation. The experience shows that we were able to overcome most of the barriers when we ourselves discussed our problems," the Iranian leader said. Tehran has an open and clear stance on Nagono-Karabakh: Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity must be guaranteed.
In his turn, President Aliyev stated his country attaches paramount importance to its relations with Iran. "This first meeting will give great impetus to the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations," he said. The sides also discussed the North-South transport corridor and bilateral cooperation of the so-called Zangezur corridor, which, and the two noted, is to Iran`s benefit.
The sides also discussed the creation of an Azerbaijan-Russia-Iran energy corridor, exchanged view on cooperation within international organizations, expansion of the bilateral economic ties.
