ArmInfo.The European Union and WHO provided the Medical Center of St. Gregory the Illuminator (Surb Grigor Lusavorich) under the RA Ministry of Health with an ultra-modern X-ray machine for the radiology office as part of a wider package of assistance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
According to the press service of the RA Ministry of Health, head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, RA Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, Special Representative of the WHO Office in Armenia Oleg Storozhenko visited the Medical Center on November 24 to hand over an X- ray machine.
"We hope that the new equipment will help Armenia to stimulate the fight against the pandemic by making it easier to monitor people's treatment, improving the implementation of clinical diagnoses. The EU supports the people of Armenia in jointly fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. I am glad to visit the medical center today, on the 4th anniversary of the signing of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, " EU Ambassador to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin said.
In turn, the Special Representative of the WHO Office in Armenia stated that the World Health Organization and the European Union continue to support Armenia in the fight against COVID-19. "This X-ray machine, which allows you to get a better image and track the course of the disease, is important in the treatment of patients hospitalized with COVID-19," Oleg Storozhenko added.
In turn, Avanesyan recalled that Grigor Lusavorich MC was re-profiled into a COVID-19 clinic from the first days of the epidemic, fully revealing its technical and professional potential in the fight against the pandemic. "This equipment, the acquisition of which became possible thanks to our partners, will allow us to quickly conduct high-quality examinations to treat our patients," said the Minister of Health. As part of the program, hospitals serving patients with COVID-19 were provided with personal protective equipment: masks, gloves, medical equipment necessary for treatment: electrocardiographs, oxygen condensers, ventilators and patient monitors.
