Ombudsman briefs Congressman Adam Schiff on situation with Armenian  captives and illegal invasion of Azerbaijani armed forces 

ArmInfo.Armenian Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan shared with US Congressman Adam Schiff the issue of Armenian prisoners of war and presented facts about the illegal invasion of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into the sovereign  territory of the Republic of Armenia, armed attacks by the  Azerbaijani side on Armenian villages, blocking roads, which is  devoid of legal grounds and is a gross violation of human rights. 

As stated in the official statement of the Human Rights Defender, the  platform for such discussions was organized by the Armenian National  Committee of America-Western Region (ANCA Western Region).

According to the source, in particular, Arman Tatoyan told the US  Congressman about the recent invasion (November 16) of Azerbaijan on  the sovereign territory of Armenia in Syunik, in close proximity to  settlements, which is accompanied by attacks and threatens the right  to life and health of civilians. "Units of the Azerbaijani Armed  Forces have illegally settled between the cities and villages of the  Republic of Armenia and threaten the life and health of the  population, disrupting their normal life," Tatoyan said.

He also attached importance to the reaction of international  authorities in the issue of the immediate return of the Armenian  prisoners illegally held by Azerbaijan, including those taken  prisoner on November 16, and artificial, devoid of legal grounds,  court proceedings against them. "The anti-Armenianism sponsored by  the Azerbaijani authorities all over the world is a deliberate policy  of the latter, aimed at maintaining enmity between the two peoples,  which jeopardizes stability and the human rights system in both  countries," he said.

It is reported that during the discussions, the Ombudsman expressed  gratitude to Congressman Adam Schiff for his active work in the  direction of protecting human rights.
