ArmInfo. Armenia`s third president Serzh Sargsyan has been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Committee as an alleged offender, the defending lawyer Amram Manikyan reported.
"When the incompetent authorities prefer the way to ultimate disgrace. I have just received a writ from Mr Musheghyan, Head of one of the departments of the Anti-Corruption Committee, summoning Armenia`s third president Serzh Sargsyan as alleged offender. The funny thing is that they have been fussing over the testimony by [businesswoman] Silva [Hambartsumyan], with Serzh Sargsyan interrogated as a witness two as far back as 2019. And no new fact in terms of law has since been added," Mamikyan`s Facebook message reads. He promised to report the details of this "disgrace at law."
The businesswoman Silva Hambartsumyan testified against Armenia`s second president Robert Kocharyan. According to her, she gave him a $3mln bribe for permission to mine operation. Her testimony served as a basis for criminal charges against Kocharyan.
In February 2019, Ms Hambatsumyan brought accusations against Serzh Sargsyan, ex-governor of Syunik Surk Khachatryan, ex-premier of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan and ex-minister of energy Armen Movsisyan (now late) - claiming they took away her license for mine operation.
