ArmInfo.Unfortunately, today's meeting of the EAEU Intergovernmental Council is being held in a tense environment for our country. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated this on November 19 at a meeting of the EAEU Intergovernmental Council in an expanded format.
In this regard, he recalled that just as a year ago, when a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Council was held in Armenia, the state faces serious challenges threatening its security today.
The Prime Minister noted that the region was embroiled in a new round of escalation, which unfortunately led to another losses. "The responsibility for this lies with Azerbaijan, whose military provocations are aimed at undermining the territorial integrity of our country and disrupting the agreements reached in the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021," he stated. Referring to the epidemiological situation, Pashinyan noted that it has been almost 2 years since the world, including Eurasian integration, has been developing against the background of new global socio-economic challenges that have arisen as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
As a result of the difficult epidemiological situation and the high load on the healthcare system, the demand for the prompt solution of problems, including in the pharmaceutical industry, was revealed. In this context, the head of the Armenian government, expressed the opinion that the consistent implementation of the action plan to increase the level of provision of the Union countries with strategically important drugs in the long term will create a full cycle of their production and increase the level of self-sufficiency of the EAEU states. He noted that restrictions on movement and other measures taken to protect the health of the population, in general, negatively affected the efficiency of most sectors of the economy, which affected the indicators for 2020.
