Armenian MP draws CSTO`s attention to Azerbaijan`s actions in  Armenia`s Syunik 

ArmInfo.The Azerbaijani troops are now shelling borderline positions in Syunik, Armenia, which is a member of the Collective Security Treaty Organization  (CSTO), Armenian MP Alexey Sandikov stated in Armenia`s parliament. 

The Azerbaijani authorities` actions are the follow-up of their  actions that have gone unpunished since the singing of the trilateral  agreement and especially after the Armenian and Russian sides have  clearly stated their position on the absence of the so-called  Zangezur corridor on the agenda. 

"We are drawing the attention of strategic ally, the Russian  Federation, as well as of the Collective Security Treaty Organization  and of the entire international community, to the continuing acts of  aggression by the Azerbaijani armed forces. We are sure that the  actions are aimed at the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the  Republic of Armenia, regional security and stability, and are in  conflict with the provisions of the trilateral statement of November  9, 2020. 

"We are stressing the resolution of the authorities and people of the  Republic of Armenia in defending their Homeland`s sovereignty and  territorial integrity," the MP said. 

As of 2:30pm, the situation in the eastern section of the  Armenian-Azerbaijani border remained extremely tense. "As reported  earlier, Azerbaijani troops attempted an attack on the Armenian  positions in that direction. The enemy is using artillery, armored  vehicles and firearms of different calibers. The Armenian side took  adequate measures. As a result of intense exchange of fire the  Azerbaijani side lost armored vehicles," Armenia`s defense office  reports. At the same time, media report the capture of six Armenian  servicemen.
