ArmInfo. The Security Council Office of Armenia made a statement in connection with the situation on the eastern borders of the country.
Thus, the statement reads in particular: "On November 14, at about 1:00 pm, on one of the eastern sections of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, units of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan with the help of armored vehicles invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. As a result of these actions of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan, four combat positions of the Armed Forces of Armenia were under siege.
As a result of the negotiations, Azerbaijani military equipment and troops that invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia left the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and units of the RA Armed Forces were withdrawn from the above-mentioned four combat positions. Nevertheless, the Azerbaijani servicemen, who invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in May this year, continue to be deployed in the indicated area. Rumors that the command of the RA Armed Forces or the political authorities gave an order not to resist are untrue. The RA Security Council instructed the relevant authorities to conduct a proper investigation of the incident".
At the same time, the statement notes that the Security Council draws the attention of the Russian Federation, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the international community to the continuing aggressive actions of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and emphasizes that these actions are directed against the sovereignty, territorial integrity and regional security and stability of the Republic of Armenia, and also contradicts the provisions of the tripartite declaration of November 9, 2020.
The Security Council Office of the Republic of Armenia also expresses the determination of the authorities and people to defend the sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence of their homeland. The Council also touched upon the situation near the village of Chakaten, and noted that the sections of the Goris-Kapan and Kapan-Chakaten highways, which came under the control of Azerbaijan, noted that "these territories are not located on the territory of the Republic of Armenia in accordance with documents of direct legal significance concerning the borders of Armenia and Azerbaijan in the Soviet years".
"The Government of the Republic of Armenia has taken measures to establish a new network of alternative roads in Syunik region, and these works will be completed in the near future. We consider it necessary to emphasize that not a single settlement in the Republic of Armenia is deprived of a vital road, '' the Security Council said, while spreading an obvious lie, since it is well known that as a result of the establishment of a checkpoint on this area, six Armenian villages were in a blockade.
"The Security Council of the Republic of Armenia continues to emphasize the need for a peaceful settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border situation, that is, the equal withdrawal of troops from the de jure established border of Soviet Armenia and Soviet Azerbaijan and the beginning of the process of demarcation and demarcation of borders under international auspices. We also call on the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to intensify efforts for a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, "the RA Security Council summed up.
