ArmInfo.According to the preliminary information by the RA Central Electoral Commission, the Civil Contract party led by Premier Nikol Pashinyan has suffered a crushing defeat at the Nov. 14, 2021, local elections in Kapan, Syunik province. The premier-led party won a majority in Ijevan, Tavush province, and Stepanavan, Lori province.
Specifically, the Bloc Shant opposition nationalist party won crushing victory in Kapan, with the head of the enlarged community Gevork Parsyan topping the party list. The bloc received 13,962 voters, and the Civil Contract party, 5,791 votes. 20,087 of the 31,673 registered voters took part in the vote.
The Civil Contract party won an absolute majority in Ijevan - 100,300 votes. The Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARFD) received 1,964 votes. 12,383 of the 33,009 registered voters took part in the vote.
The ruling party also gained a convincing victory in Stepanavan - 4,004 votes. The Armenian National Congress (ANC) received 218 votes, Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), 705 votes. 5,107 of the 13,343 registered voters took part in the vote. Local elections in Stepanavan, Kapan, and Ijevan (proportional representation) and in Arzni and Lermontovo (majority voting) were held on Nov. 14.
