ArmInfo.Armenia's Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan has released a vide on his Facebook page confirming obstacles being put to the communication between the villages of Bardzavan, Shurnukh and Vorotan. As a result, the Azerbaijani side installed an illegal border and customs checkpoint on the Goris-Kapan highway.
The Ombudsman reported that after he presented the facts confirming the installation of the illegal checkpoint, which resulted in human rights violations and humanitarian problems, some media outlets attempted to refute his statements on seriously complicated communication between the villages.
To prevent further speculations, the Ombudsman released a short video showing part of the road connecting the village of Khot with the aforementioned villages. The video is available here: https://youtu.be/rCExKp4_Iww.
The video shows the serious obstacles to free movement of the residents of the villages, who are now faced with a serious humanitarian problem, including isolation from the outer world.
"This video is another piece of evidence that the so-called customs or border checkpoint of Azerbaijan on the Goris-Kapan highway has no legal grounds and must be removed. The checkpoint on the border connecting the Syunik communities is a gross violation of the international human rights norms," Tatoyan said.
