ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is on a working visit to Paris, met with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the Ministers discussed issues of further deepening the Armenian-French privileged relations and confirmed their interest in further developing mutually beneficial cooperation. The importance of expanding economic ties between the two countries was emphasized.
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and France discussed a number of issues related to the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that a comprehensive and long-term solution to the conflict is possible only through peaceful negotiations under the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
They also touched upon humanitarian issues arising from the 44-day war. In this vein, Mirzoyan stressed the need for the unconditional and early repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and other persons, as well as the importance of preserving the Armenian historical, cultural and religious heritage in the territories of Artsakh under Azerbaijani control.
At the same time, he noted that Armenia and the Armenian people highly appreciate the position and steps of the government and parliament of France in the days of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh and in the subsequent period.
During the meeting, Foreign Minister Mirzoyan also thanked the French side for their help in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
