Citizens protesting against establishment of Azerbaijani customs  checkpoints on Goris-Kapan road detained 

ArmInfo.. Citizens protesting against the establishment of Azerbaijani customs checkpoints on the Goris-Kapan road organized a protest action near the building of the  Government of Armenia. The police cordoned off the building.  Detentions began.

Yesterday, Secretary of the Security Council Armen Grigoryan on the  air of the Public Television of Armenia announced that from today on  the Goris-Kapan highway a customs control point of enemy Azerbaijan  will be established. Today at a meeting of the government, RA Prime  Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Azerbaijan will carry out  passport and border control in relation to the citizens of Armenia on  its territory of the Goris-Kapan road. In his words, it was possible  to avoid border control in relation to RA citizens at the cost of  "corridor logic, which is unacceptable for the Armenian side."

The protesters gathered in front of the government building are  chanting "Nikol, traitor." Members of the Hayastan (Armenia)  opposition faction Anna Grigoryan and Gegham Manukyan said they would  try to enter the government building to get answers from the Prime  Minister.

As Anna Grigoryan pointed out, Pashinyan's words that "if necessary,  the Republic of Armenia will also establish customs and passport  control points on the Goris-Kapan road" indicate that the RA  authorities, without any legal basis, de jure recognized the fact of  demarcation.

In addition, according to Grigoryan, the Kapan-Chakaten road is also  under threat. "The Azerbaijani Armed Forces were stationed there and  after midnight strange events took place there," she said.
