ArmInfo.About 30% of Armenia's adult population have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines, Armenia's Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan stated at a joint discussion of the 2022 draft budget by the standing parliamentary committees.
A total of 890,797 doses (both the first and second) had been used by November 7, 2021. No serious post- vaccination complications have been recorded as a result of such large-scale vaccination except for some cases of high temperature, allergy, which did not even require medical aid.
The minister said that Armenia's example shows vaccines to be safe and effective as well as the only means of death prevention.
On the other hand, Avanesyan reported that a pregnant woman died of COVID-19 last night. Over 100 pregnant women are now receiving treatment in Armenia's hospitals, with over 50% of them suffering pneumonia of different severity.
In the context of COVID-19 control, the minister highlights a need for intensified vaccination rather than for a lockdown. Or distance learning could be practiced. Avanesyan said that the decision will be applied selectively to the schools with higher infection rates.
A total of 613,846 people or 30% of the country's adult population, have so far received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines. Another 276,948 people received the second dose. According to the minister, higher vaccination rates have been recorded over the last month, with 18,000 to 19,000 people getting vaccinated daily.
