ArmInfo.Maps of the 1920s are the only ones that have legal force. Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan stated this to journalists on October 28 after the Cabinet meeting.
Earlier in the media there was a "leak" that the demarcation of the borders will be carried out on the basis of Soviet maps of the 1920s. Thus, Grigoryan neither confirmed nor denied the information. "During the years of the USSR, the first process of demarcation began precisely in the 1920s - 1926, 1927, and ended in 1929. After that, the maps of those years were put in the basis of the maps compiled in the future," he said.
Answering the question is it possible to carry out delimitation on the basis of maps of the 1920s, Armen Grigoryan assured that there are no maps in circulation now. "The working group on demarcation and delimitation is discussing how to start the process - which map to take as a basis, but there is still no clarity on this issue. We are discussing, if there is, we will inform the public, "Grigoryan said.
The Security Council Secretary agreed that the maps were changed several times. At the same time, he does not share the opinion that the maps of the 9220s were made to the detriment of Armenian interests. At the same time, according to Secretary Armen Grigoryan, the maps of this period are the only ones that have legal force. "But even in this matter there is no single approach - some people say that these are maps of 1926, others that of 1929," he added.
