ArmInfo. MP of the 7th convocation from the ruling "My Step" faction, previously an expert of the "Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center" Artak Manukyan was elected a member of the Board of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia by secret (closed) voting.
65 MP voted "for" the candidate from the ruling Civil Contract faction, 20 -"against".
To note, an expert, a consultant for a number of international programs (Germany, Georgia, Switzerland). Artak Manukyan, an expert of the public procurement policy of the Anti-Corruption Center of Transparency International, was elected to the National Assembly from the national electoral list of the bloc of "My Step" party on December 9, 2018. It should be noted that from 2019 to 2021, Artak Manukyan held the position of Deputy Chairman of the RA NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary Affairs. During the activity of the Parliament of the 7th convocation, he authored and co-authored 21 bills, of which 17 were approved. From June 2018 to January 2019, Manukyan served as Advisor to Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
To note, the Board of the Central Bank consists of the Governor of the Central Bank, two Deputy Governors, and five members of the Board. Five members of the Board of the Central Bank are elected by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia for a period of six years. Manukyan became the 5th member of the body. Members of the Board of the Central Bank may not hold other positions in the Central Bank.
