ArmInfo. MP of the "Armenia" faction Aghvan Vardanyan harshly criticized the current government in connection with their position on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.
For example, Vardanyan's statement received by ArmInfo notes that on October 15, in the course of questions and answers to the government in the parliament, the MP asked a question about mutual positive signals between Turkey and Armenia and received an offer to send a written request. According to him, on October 16 he sent a written request in which he asked whether this government can guarantee that in the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations there will be no deviation from the red lines approved by the RA Constitutional Court.
"I reminded that there are 2009 Zurich Protocols on Armenian-Turkish relations. There is a decision of the RA Constitutional Court of 2010, a decision of January 12. With this decision, the Constitutional Court established red lines:
(A) Reciprocal obligations under the Protocols are purely bilateral in nature and cannot be applied to any third party. Naturally, we are talking about Azerbaijan;
B) They cannot be interpreted and applied in a manner that contradicts the provisions of the preamble of the RA Constitution;
C) Cannot be interpreted and applied in a way that contradicts the requirements of paragraph 11 of the Declaration of Independence of Armenia. That is, the Republic of Armenia supports the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey and Western Armenia in 1915. I repeat, this is an excerpt from the decision of the RA Constitutional Court, "the opposition MP noted.
At the same time, he expressed his indignation at the response he received from the government of Armenia, which, in particular, says:
"Dear Mr. Vardanyan, in response to your written request addressed to the RA Prime Minister on September 16, on the basis of the relevant instruction of the head of government, we inform you that the decision of the RA Constitutional Court of January 12, 2010 (decision SDO-850) concerns obligations, stipulated in the signed Protocols on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Turkey and on the development of relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Turkey signed in Zurich on October 10, 2009 - to the issue of compliance! As a reminder, the procedure for signing these protocols was terminated on March 1, 2018 by a corresponding decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia.
As for the approaches of the Armenian government to promoting the agenda of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide and the normalization of relations with Turkey, we inform you that these issues are included in the program of the RA government for 2021-2026. "
The opposition MP stated that government representatives avoid verbal answers to direct questions from MPs, apparently fearing to offend the Turkish side with a careless word.
"It seems that only one conclusion can be drawn from this answer: there is no Republic of Armenia, Constitutional Court for them; that the preamble of the RA Constitution, this decision of the Constitutional Court is not a basis for them, and does not concern them; these red lines are out of date and that they are ready to make concessions here too.
At the same time, the government's program on the Genocide specifically states: "The government will use the international recognition of the Genocide not to increase regional tensions, but rather, on the contrary, to achieve regional de-escalation." Conclusion - they are seriously ill with Turkish peacefulness and such patients are not treated. They are dying, "said Vardanyan, while asking Deputy Foreign Minister Vahe Gevorgyan, who signed this reply, whether he is ready to share responsibility for future processes.
