ArmInfo. The ARF-Dashnaktsutyun Central Bureau commented on the anti-Armenian statements of some foreign leaders.
Thus, in the ARF Bureau statement received by ArmInfo, it is noted that the results of the Azerbaijani- Turkish aggression against the Republic of Artsakh influenced not only the behavior of the military- political leadership of Turkey and Azerbaijan, but also some foreign circles, which, distorting and falsifying the essence of the Artsakh issue, do unilateral statements.
"These statements almost completely repeat the positions of the Azerbaijani state. It is regrettable that state and religious leaders who occupy or hold important positions in the OSCE Minsk Group member states were also harnessed to defend the side known for war crimes and aggression against a self-determined people.
In particular, we strongly condemn the dubious statements of head of the department for external church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk and former American co- chairman of the Minsk Group, Matthew Bryza. The latter has long been at the disposal of the Azerbaijani- Turkish circles due to his daily activities and personal interests, "the ARF noted.
The statement adds that Bryza's anti-Armenian statements against the background of the abovementioned were not as unexpected as the statement of a high-ranking clergyman of the Russian Orthodox Church about the temporary nature of a small part of Artsakh under Armenian control. The Bureau recalled that the relationship between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Russian Orthodox Church has been measured for centuries, and at times unpleasant incidents that arise have been corrected thanks to the efforts of the spiritual leaders of the two Churches.
"The Armenian people have the right to expect at least an impartial position from the fathers of the sister church. We are full of hope that the statement of Metropolitan Hilarion has nothing to do with the official position of the Russian Orthodox Church.
It is obvious that the Azerbaijani side, against the background of increasing international pressure and the inevitability of imminent punishment, began to create the illusion of international legitimacy of its actions, trying to include as many resounding names in this matter as possible. We expect that various international partners and heads of institutions, within the limits of their competence, will prevent the involvement of people occupying significant posts in the activities of the Azerbaijani propaganda machine, "the ARF said.
The Bureau is also convinced that foreign partners should not condition their policy towards the Armenian people on temporary difficulties through which the countries pass or on the behavior of the Armenian authorities.
"Throughout its history, our people have repeatedly proved their ability to overcome the most difficult challenges. The committees and offices of the ARF "Hay Dat" around the world continue to follow the development of events, statements by government agencies and individuals," the statement says.
