ArmInfo.Opposition parliamentary factions spoke about two tools with which they intend to counteract the current government.
Thus, at a meeting with journalists on October 25, secretary of the parliamentary faction of the "Armenia" bloc Artsvik Minasyan recalled that the opposition has always stated that it will use both parliamentary and extra-parliamentary tools in its struggle.
"Today, we have gathered here to present the two tools that the "I Have Honor" and "Armenia" factions intend to use. One of these tools is the formation of a commission of inquiry in the parliament, which will study the validity of transferring funds from the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund to the Armenian government
We are talking about the funds that were collected immediately after September 27, 2020 to support our state during the war. The second tool that will be used is the discussion, in accordance with the Constitution, of an urgent issue of public interest and concerning the situation on the line of contact between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the problems associated with demarcation. Nowadays, when this issue becomes more and more important in the conditions of excessive information flows, we intend to hold one of the most effective discussions, but also to finally propose a draft statement addressed not only to the international community, to our citizens , but also to the executive power in terms of their fulfillment of constitutional obligations, "Minasyan said.
In turn, MP from the "Armenia" bloc Aram Vardevanyan, reminded that, according to the convention adopted and ratified by all countries (including Armenia and Azerbaijan), the document signed under the threat of use of force is considered invalid. "This is one of the simplest principles of the international community. Azerbaijan's non-return of Armenian prisoners of war is the same language of threats," he said.
The MP also expressed his conviction that Russia cannot agree to a conspiracy against Armenia. "Each country is sovereign and responsible for its actions. When the Armenian authorities do not respond to the threats of Azerbaijan, what can be demanded from Russia? The Armenian authorities should mark the" red lines ". The authorities are doing everything to get rid of the sovereignty that they fear so much," - stressed Vardevanyan.
In turn, MP from the "I Have the Honor" bloc Tigran Abrahamyan drew attention to the fact that an urgent discussion on the topic of borders and delimitation, initiated by the "Armenia" and "I Have the Honor ". He stated that the situation around Armenia and Artsakh is more than alarming and before resorting to this method, the opposition tried to discuss all issues with the participation of representatives of power bodies (Ministry of Defense, General Staff, NSS, General Prosecutor's Office).
"However, the authorities did everything to organize an escape from reality, not to participate in these discussions and avoiding to answer the questions of public concern. Obviously, the authorities have something to hide, they want to disguise the processes at the border, and they do not want the opposition MPs to fix what is being said at different platforms," Abrahamyan said, adding that the evidence of this fact was confirmed after the Armenian Defense Ministry did not allow him to visit the Sotk-Khoznavar section of the border.
The oppositionist believes that today it is important to understand what measures the authorities have taken to restore the security system in Armenia and Artsakh, to what extent the country is ready to withstand potential threats and challenges.
At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that he is well aware of how much work could have been done on the front line over the past period, but even 7 months after the war, the Armenian side had unprotected sections of borders, which led to the invasion of enemy forces into the sovereign territories of the Republic of Armenia.
"As for the delimitation, to my surprise, the Armenian authorities announced that they were ready for it, referring to Soviet maps. The problem is not that delimitation is not needed and the opposition is against the peace process. what period the reference is made during the Soviet era, there were many changes that did not correspond to the Constitutions of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the USSR. it will not lead to anything good. Issues around Armenia and Artsakh should be resolved in a single package, although, as we understand, delimitation can be carried out separately. The rush of the authorities raises questions here. It is not clear to which maps the reference is made. During the Soviet regime, there were many changes that did not correspond to the Constitutions of Armenia, Azerbaijan and the USSR. We studied maps from the 1920s to the collapse of the USSR, and they have a lot of features. We think that haste will not lead to anything good. Issues around Armenia and Artsakh should be resolved in a single package, although, as we understand, delimitation can be carried out separately.
If there is a document, it is not clear what tasks it will solve. It is necessary to exclude a process that would block the possibility of resolving the issue of thinning the status of Artsakh on the basis of the principle of the right of peoples to self-determination. It is necessary to understand what principles the will be guided by, what goals they pursue. Everything must be made public in order to avoid the situation that was on November 9, 2020. We will make public those facts that worry us, which the authorities do not take into account. Otherwise, we risk entering into a process that in the next decades will create a dangerous situation for Armenia. The current authorities narrow the possibilities in the future to find more favorable solutions for the Armenian side, "Abrahamyan assured.
He also commented on today's statement by RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan that Armenia has no intentions to seize the territories of neighboring states. According to Abrahamyan, in this way, Pashinyan wants to show that there are no revanchist sentiments in Armenia, which Azerbaijan has repeatedly warned against in the recent period.
