ArmInfo. Newly appointed Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to Armenia Christine Weigand presented a letter of accreditation to RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
As reported by the press service of the RA MFA, the Foreign Minister highly appreciated the activities of the UN Children's Fund in Armenia over the past 27 years, aimed at protecting the rights of children. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of various programs and initiatives by the organization to improve the health and education of children.
The interlocutors touched upon the UNICEF program document for Armenia for 2021-2025, which is a comprehensive framework aimed at achieving sufficient progress in the areas of social services, education, health care and children's rights. During the meeting, the sides discussed the humanitarian consequences of last year's Azerbaijani-Turkish aggression. Mirzoyan stressed the need for more active participation of UNICEF in ensuring the safety, education and other rights of children affected by conflicts.
