ArmInfo.Head of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons Ali Nagiyev and the delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) headed by Vice-President Gilles Carbonnier discussed relations between the ICRC and Azerbaijan of mutual interest at a meeting on October 20 issues related to the implementation of the organization's humanitarian mission.
As APA reports, with reference to the website of State Security Service of Azerbaijan, referring to the search for Azerbaijani citizens missing in the first and second Karabakh wars, Ali Nagiyev expressed hope that the ICRC will continue to play an active role in this direction and make an important contribution.
Then, Nagiyev decided to teach ICRC representatives how to travel to Nagorno-Karabakh. Not failing to recall that the Russian peacekeepers are temporarily on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, the Azerbaijani official said that, taking into account the new realities in the region, the visits of ICRC representatives to Artsakh are possible only with the use of the territory of Azerbaijan, rather than Armenia's territory.
To note, earlier Azerbaijan tried to teach Russian peacekeepers who should be allowed to enter Nagorno- Karabakh and who should not.
In addition, during the conversation, the topic of "the return to the country of immigrants from Azerbaijan and their families from the Middle East, in particular from Syria and Iraq," was widely discussed.
It should be reminded that in the course of Azerbaijan's large-scale military aggression against Artsakh, terrorists and mercenaries from the Middle East were deployed to the conflict zone, as reported not only by the media, but also by the leaders of a number of countries. According to a number of publications, mercenaries continue to remain in the region, moreover, Azerbaijan plans to populate the occupied territories of Artsakh with them, in this regard, their families are now being transferred to the region.
Vice-President of the ICRC Gilles Carbonnier expressed satisfaction with the relationship of useful cooperation with the government of Azerbaijan and expressed confidence that joint fruitful work to address these issues will continue.
