ArmInfo. The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia categorically rejected plans to create new corridors in the southern parts of the Caucasus after the last military conflict with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
In an interview with the Iranian Tasnim agency, Armen Grigoryan said that the latest war in the Nagorno- Karabakh region paved the way for the presence of terrorists in the region. Expressing concern about the emerging insecurity caused by the presence of terrorists and the armed forces of some countries in the region, he said: "We have always warned others against these problems. But these warnings did not help prevent the infiltration of terrorists and armed men into the region. " Meanwhile, Grigoryan said that the issue of unblocking the roads and economic routes of the region was mentioned in the November statement, and was also discussed at the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Russia and the Republic of Azerbaijan, held in Russia on January 11. "I want to stress with confidence that neither in these two statements, nor at all other meetings, the corridor is mentioned," Grigoryan said.
According to him, Azerbaijan, on the contrary, has stated several times that the creation of the corridor is being questioned. "I want to make it clear that Armenia has never offered and will not offer anything about the corridor, and it has never and will not negotiate on the corridor," Grigoryan stressed.
The Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia noted that he confirmed the position of Yerevan on this issue at the meetings with his colleagues.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made it clear before the elections in Armenia and during the election campaign in Kapan that there would be no talk about creating a corridor, he added. <You know that in the last elections we received the majority of votes. This indicates that our position and policy have been accepted and understood by the Armenian society, and they (people) support our position. They also realized that there is no talk of a corridor, and this issue is clear in our society, "added Grigoryan. He also expressed Armenia's readiness to open its routes for transportation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkey, but at the same time stressed that these routes will be fully under the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia.
