ArmInfo. The Russian side stands for the strict implementation of all the provisions of the agreements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan both of November 9, 2020 and January 11 of this year. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced this on October 14 during a weekly briefing.
So, when asked to assess the results of the meeting between the President of the Russian Federation and the Prime Minister of Armenia, especially in the context of the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement, she recalled the principled position of the Russian Foreign Ministry not to assess the summit meetings, recalling that this is the prerogative of the administration of the President of Russia.
"As for the situation as a whole, the Russian side stands for the strict implementation of all the provisions of the agreements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan both dated November 9, 2020 and January 11 this year. And we hope that this will create the necessary conditions for the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan, including for solving the existing complex bilateral issues, " Zakharova said.
To clarify how Moscow plans to force Azerbaijan to fulfill the trilateral statements of the leaders of the three countries, against the background of the murder of a civilian in Nagorno-Karabakh by an Azerbaijani sniper, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in particular, said: Yes, on October 9, in the Martakert region, as a result of shelling from the Azerbaijani side, a resident of the village of Matagis received a fatal gunshot wound. We express our deep condolences to all the family and friends of the deceased. " At the same time, she noted that the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent is conducting an appropriate investigation with the involvement of representatives from both sides. According to Zakharova, in order to coordinate efforts to prevent incidents in their area of responsibility, the Russian peacekeepers maintain continuous interaction with the General Staffs of the Armed Forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"This tragic incident confirms the importance of strict observance of all the provisions of the statements of the leaders of the three countries. And we call on both sides to eliminate the existing mutual irritants in the humanitarian field as soon as possible - to exchange prisoners of war according to the formula of all for all and maps of minefields in full," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry concluded.
To remind, a civilian was killed in a pomegranate garden in Nagorno-Karabakh while carrying out agricultural work. Next to the tractor driver was a Russian peacekeeper at that moment. The incident took place in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.
