At the meeting with newly appointed Ambassador of France to Armenia Anne Louyot, RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS) Vahram Dumanyan congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and wished him fruitful work for the benefit of developing friendly relations between the two countries.
As reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia, the minister expressed confidence that the Ambassador's activities will further strengthen the relations between the two countries, as well as expand and enrich the agenda of bilateral cooperation.
"I attach great importance to cooperation between our two friendly countries. I am confident that opportunities for joint programs in education, science, culture, sports and youth will contribute to the expansion of bilateral relations. For the implementation of joint programs, the Ministry of Education and Science effectively cooperates with the Embassy of the French Republic in Armenia," Dumanyan said.
The Minister noted that during his recent visit to Paris to participate in the event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Henri Verneuil, he met with Minister of Culture of the French Republic Roselyne Bachelot. The meeting discussed the possibilities of implementing joint programs. Currently, work is underway to develop and sign a cooperation document.
At the same time, Dumanyan stated that he was counting on the Ambassador's support on this issue, in particular, in the implementation of the document and in holding various joint events. He also referred to the first Armenian-French scientific-educational medical conference to be held in Yerevan on October 13- 15, dedicated to the 44-day Artsakh war. Vahram Dumanyan expressed hope that the conference will become a new platform for cooperation in the development of medicine in Armenia. The Minister informed the Ambassador that during his visit to the French Republic, he also met with UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay and Ernesto Otto, Deputy Director General for Culture of UNESCO. During the meetings, the importance of cooperation in the field of protecting the cultural heritage of the Republic of Artsakh was especially emphasized, and issues related to sending a UNESCO technical mission to Artsakh and adjacent territories were discussed. Vahram Dumanyan stated that Armenia is ready to fully support the implementation of the mission.
In turn, the French diplomat noted that being an Ambassador to Armenia is a great honor for any diplomat. "Relations between our two countries have a very meaningful agenda, so I will do my best to deepen cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, sports and youth," she said.
The parties touched upon the organization of programs for in-depth study of the French language in secondary schools of the Republic of Armenia, which will contribute to the development of French in Armenia, increase the effectiveness of teaching French in secondary schools. The Minister and the Ambassador discussed issues related to the activities of the French International School named after Anatole France in Yerevan, as well as the French University in Armenia - as a university that implements educational and research investment programs.
Other issues related to the preservation of cultural heritage, the training of teachers of the French language, and possible cooperation in the field of sports were also touched upon.
