Tbilisi: Active communication is being conducted between the leaders  of Azerbaijan and Armenia

He noted that for the first time in 30 years, Georgia has achieved  the fulfillment of important regional roles and functions.

"Today, for the first time in 30 years, Georgia is already fulfilling  an important role and function. As you know, on the direct initiative  and with the mediation of the Prime Minister, active communication is  being conducted between the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia. The  Georgian government has achieved these first steps, primarily in  terms of regional cooperation. This important result was achieved  thanks to our mediation, "Zalkaliani said, APA reports.

The Minister noted that further steps in this direction will be taken  with the active support of Europe and the United States.

To recall, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, during his  speech at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, proposed to  world leaders a "peaceful neighborhood initiative" to ensure peace  and stability in the Black Sea region. As the Georgian prime minister  noted then, Tbilisi is ready to host the first meeting within the  framework of the peace initiative. According to him, the new format  will help build a dialogue and will be a practical solution to  regional issues. Later, the head of government said that Georgia came  up with an initiative to create a platform in Tbilisi for high-level  contacts between the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides.
