ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated that from the first day of his tenure as head of the RA Foreign Ministry, he has formed good, friendly relations with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amirabdollahian. He made this statement on October 6 during the government hour in the parliament, commenting on his visit to Iran, also stating that the Indian Foreign Minister will visit Armenia in a few days.
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan paid a working visit to Iran on October 4. This is the first visit of Ararat Mirzoyan to Iran after his appointment as head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry. Mirzoyan invited his Iranian counterpart to visit Armenia.
According to the Minister, the Armenian-Iranian joint agenda is quite extensive. As Mirzoyan pointed out, there are ongoing, implemented or in the process of implementation projects, and the visit became a good opportunity, including for discussing future programs. In particular, we are talking about the program of construction of a new high-voltage line Iran-Armenia, Meghri hydroelectric power station, prolongation of the "gas in exchange for electricity" agreement. They also discussed serious programs on transport routes, including with the involvement of Iranian companies in the development of infrastructures. "There was undoubtedly a conversation on the topic of the so-called "Zangezur corridor", that is, in fact, about the absence of such a corridor.
At the same time, as the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry emphasized, one should understand that during the visit not only issues of the bilateral agenda, but also of regional significance were discussed. "I have always welcomed and continue to welcome Iran's position on the inviolability of the borders of Armenia and all the positive signals that we receive in this direction," Mirzoyan said.
According to the Armenian Foreign Minister, Iran is not only a serious regional, but also a global player. According to Mirzoyan, the views of Yerevan and Tehran on regional infrastructure projects, opening communications and new transit routes, including the Persian Gulf-Black Sea international transport corridor, in which India is very interested, coincide.
