ArmInfo. Turkish "corridor" conversations, which are becoming more frequent in the context of the Syunik region of Armenia, are nothing more than another manifestation of the hybrid war that has long been waged in the South Caucasus and neighboring regions. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by the chairman of the "Republic" party, former prime minister of Armenia Aram Sargsyan.
"This is more than obvious. It should be noted that one of the most serious weapons of hybrid wars is precisely public phobias. Because it is through and on the basis, of such phobias, that their initiators manage to create instability in the target countries. Armenia can acquire real sovereignty only when we finally begin to discuss, understand and believe first of all in the Armenian interests, and only then the interests of others. When we stop believing the phobias imposed on us from the outside and begin to believe in our own mind and strength, "he stressed.
Noting that Turkey must and will ask and demand a corridor through Armenia, Sargsyan stressed the inconsistency of Ankara's requirements with the current geopolitical situation and the regional balance of power. In this light, he noted that both the collective West and Iran are against the emergence of a Moscow-controlled corridor. And the corridor controlled by the West is opposed by Russia, Iran and China.
To these realities, in the politician's opinion, it is necessary to add the absence of any mention of the corridors in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020. And of course, quite logical, in this light, the statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia Pashinyan about the absence of any discussions of the corridor in the past and the preconditions for its discussion in the future.
"The conclusion is obvious - today there is no opportunity to lay a corridor due to completely opposite approaches and interests of the main geopolitical players. Against such a background, Erdogan has the only way to seize the corridor with weapons. This will nullify the authority of Russia and Iran, and not only in the South Caucasus. Accordingly, such actions of Turkey may turn into a serious, large-scale war, which neither NATO, nor the United States, nor Israel need. In this light, I assess the possibility of a Turkish attack on Armenia alone as extremely low, "the politician summed up.
