ArmInfo.Russian President Vladimir Putin called the activities of the Russian-Turkish ceasefire control center on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia a serious guarantee of stability.
Thus, according to the Kremlin press service, during a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Bocharov Ruchei residence in Sochi, among other things, he pointed to the successful interaction of the two states in the international arena.
"In the international arena, we cooperate quite successfully, I mean both Syria and our contacts on coordinating positions on Libya. The Russian-Turkish ceasefire control center is actively operating on the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and this cooperation is a serious guarantee of stability and coordination of the sides' positions on further steps aimed at reconciliation, "the Russian leader said. At the same time, he stated that relations between Russia and Turkey are developing positively. "Last year, we had a gap in trade turnover of more than 20 percent, and this year in nine months alone, even for eight and a half, the growth was over 55 [percent]. That is, we not only compensated for everything that we lost in a pandemic year, but also increased by more than 30 percent. Negotiations are sometimes difficult, but with a final positive result. Our departments have learned to find compromises beneficial to both sides.
Investments from both sides continue to grow. We have accumulated 1.5 billion of Turkish investments in the Russian economy, and Russian investments in the Turkish economy - 6.5 billion. Major projects are being implemented, everything is going according to plan.
The Turkish Stream, a gas pipeline system to Turkey and transit to southern European countries, has been fully launched and is operating. In this regard, I cannot but thank you once again for your invariably consistent position on the construction of this gas pipeline system, which meets the interests of the Turkish people and Russia. And now, when we observe quite complex, turbulent processes in the European gas market, Turkey feels absolutely confident and stable, "the Russian President said.
Meanwhile, according to Turkish media, Erdogan emphasized the importance of the dialogue between Ankara and Moscow, drew attention to the successful implementation of joint projects in the economic field and thanked Russia for its contribution to combating forest fires. "I am sure that the continuation and strengthening of Turkish-Russian ties is associated with great benefits," the head of state said.
