ArmInfo.RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in New York to participate in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, met with US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland.
As reported by the press service of the RA MFA, the parties expressed satisfaction with the high dynamics of relations between Armenia and the United States, expressing their readiness to develop and strengthen cooperation in various fields. The priorities of cooperation between the two governments in the direction of developing democratic institutions, strengthening the rule of law and combating corruption were emphasized. The interlocutors exchanged views on regional security issues. Touching upon the situation in Artsakh, Mirzoyan highly assessed the US position on the resumption of the process of peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noting that a long-term and comprehensive settlement of the conflict should take place under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
The parties also stressed the importance of de-escalation efforts in the region. The Armenian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to US President Joe Biden for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide, noting that this is an important step in recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide, as well as in the struggle to prevent new genocides.
