According to the press service of the French Foreign Ministry, the situation in the Caucasus was also the subject of close coordination with Russia and the United States within the framework of the co-chairmanship of the Minsk Group.
The source notes that during all these meetings, the minister discussed with his interlocutors measures that can be implemented to restore confidence and reduce tension in relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. "France, as a co-chair of the Minsk Group, remains fully mobilized in favor of a substantive dialogue between the parties, which is necessary to stabilize the region and establish a lasting peace. He invited his interlocutors to continue these discussions in the coming weeks, including at the ministerial level," the message of the French Foreign Ministry reads.
At the same time, official Paris welcomed the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, which took place in New York under the auspices of the OSCE MG co-chairs. "This meeting in New York is the first direct exchange of views between the two ministers after the end of the conflict last year. This meeting in New York is the first positive and important step in resuming a substantive dialogue between the parties," the French Foreign Ministry concluded.
