ArmInfo.Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, who is in New York to participate in the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, met on September 22 with Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schellenberg.
As reported by the RA MFA, the parties exchanged views on a number of issues on the agenda of cooperation between the two countries at bilateral and multilateral platforms. In particular, the realization of the existing potential of cooperation in the economic field was emphasized. In this regard, the importance of deepening trade and economic relations, as well as strengthening ties between the business circles of the two countries, was highlighted.
Ararat Mirzoyan highly appreciated the position of the Austrian side on the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, adding that guaranteeing the security and freedom of the people of Artsakh should be the basis of a comprehensive and long-term solution to the conflict.
The interlocutors noted the importance of issues of preserving cultural heritage. Ararat Mirzoyan stressed that as a result of the 44-day war, the Armenian cultural and religious heritage of Artsakh needs urgent attention of the international community in the territories that came under the control of Azerbaijan to protect against the threat of total destruction. Ministers also discussed efforts to combat the coronavirus epidemic.
