ArmInfo.Moscow expects a response from Yerevan and Baku to proposals on the delimitation and demarcation of the border. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova on September 16 at a briefing.
According to her, Moscow is closely monitoring the situation on certain sections of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The development of the situation, including near the village of Vorotan, as Zakharova pointed out, once again confirms the need for an early start of the process of delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border with its subsequent demarcation along its entire length.
According to her, the Russian proposals in this regard have been transmitted to both Baku and Yerevan. "We expect an early response to form a further course," said the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Zakharova added that the Russian side will continue joint efforts with Azerbaijan and Armenia to unblock economic and transport ties in the region in line with the implementation of the trilateral agreements at the highest level of November 2020 and January 2021.
It should be reminded that from September 12, the Azerbaijani military began to stop trucks with Iranian numbers in the area under its control near the Armenian village of Vorotan of the Goris-Kapan highway. They demand the payment of customs duties from the drivers of Iranian trucks, according to various sources, from $ 100 to $ 300. As the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Azerbaijan then reported, Baku established control on the section of the Goris-Kapan road passing through the Syunik region of Armenia "in accordance with the Azerbaijani tax code." "According to the code, vehicles are subject to road tax, as well as a state duty for obtaining a permit regulating international road transport in the territory of Azerbaijan," the ministry said in a statement.
