ArmInfo. The Investigative Committee of Armenia has charged the deputy head of the administrative region of Kentron with abuse of office.
According to the information of the Investigative Committee, during the investigation it turned out that the deputy head of the Kentron administrative district, the acting head of the administrative district, an official entrusted with organizational and managerial powers, on May 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., together with the chief specialist of the department for communal issues and about 10 other employees entered the office of the head of the department of urban planning and land use, located in the building of the administrative district, used violence against the latter, and then demanded that he write a letter of resignation and, having received a negative answer, struck various parts of the body of the mentioned employee by causing bodily harm.
"With the totality of the evidence obtained, the acting head of the administrative region was charged under Part 2 of Article 309 of the RA Criminal Code (abuse of office: an act connected with the use of violence, weapons or special means, is punishable by imprisonment for a term of two to six years with the deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period not exceeding three years, Ed. note) ",stated in the message of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.
The preliminary investigation of the case has been completed, the criminal case has been sent to the prosecutor's office with a petition to send the indictment to the court.
Earlier it was reported that the deputy head of the administration of the Kentron district of Yerevan beat his subordinate. As the employees of the administration told reporters, the deputy head of the administration of the Kentron district entered into an argument with one of the workers and beat the latter. On May 12, deputy head of the regional administration Armen Azizyan and chief specialist Arman Davoyan were detained. The RA Police informed the media that a criminal case was initiated in connection with the incident: Part 2 of Article 309 of the RA Criminal Code (abuse of power in combination with violence), committed with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons).
