ArmInfo. There have always been contradictions in the positions and approaches of the parties to the conflict settlement around Artsakh. Accordingly, the current contradictions between Yerevan and Baku on the issue of restoring the peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group on Artsakh by no means mean that all the possibilities for resuming negotiations have been exhausted.
A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by former head of the Artsakh Republic Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Arman Melikyan.
"I think that if a corresponding desire arises and, most importantly, it is approved by the OSCE Minsk Group co- chairs in favor of resuming negotiations, they will resume. I do not exclude that they will resume with an updated agenda. It is quite possible that some new subtleties will appear on the negotiating agenda. However, the formation of this agenda is quite possible. And in the case of Armenia, it is necessary, "he stressed.
In addition to the Azerbaijani invasion of the territory of Armenia, illegal and contrary to the trilateral agreements, the detention of Armenian citizens, some other issues, the issue of the status of Artsakh should undoubtedly become part of the negotiating agenda, according to the diplomat. Issues related to the territorial integrity of Artsakh, separate issues of Shushi and the Hadrut region of Artsakh.
Another important, in the diplomat's opinion, item on the negotiating agenda is the emphasis by the Armenian side of the negotiations on Azerbaijan's violation of the 1994 agreement on an indefinite ceasefire. According to Melikyan, in this way Baku pushed itself out of the legal field of the conflict settlement with its own hand. Not excluding the possibility of Yerevan signing a peace agreement with Baku and recognition of the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan by Yerevan, Melikyan considers it a matter of time. And it is for this reason that the issue of determining the status of Artsakh will be returned to the agenda. According to the diplomat's forecasts, the problem of Artsakh's status today has all the prospects for becoming a sensitive item of the international political agenda in the South Caucasus.
