ArmInfo. Armenia and Georgia agreed to develop joint initiatives in the field of transport, energy, and high technologies. This was emphsized at the meeting of Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili with Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
According to the press service of the government, the parties discussed the directions of further development of economic ties. In particular, they emphasized the mutual readiness to increase the volume of trade. In this context, the interlocutors attached importance to the work of the Armenian-Georgian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, the next meeting of which will be held at the end of the year in Georgia.
The Prime Minister of Armenia thanked the Georgian side; the Prime Minister of Georgia for the efforts to return 15 Armenian prisoners of war from Azerbaijan, stressing that this is a significant contribution to maintaining peace and stability in the region. In this context, Nikol Pashinyan attached importance to Georgia's balanced position on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which should be based on the principles proposed by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
The Prime Minister touched upon Azerbaijan's destructive policy and anti-Armenian rhetoric, which poses a threat to regional stability and security. The sides also exchanged views on the internal political situation in the two countries.
Pashinyan noted that for the second time in the history of Armenia, the elections by international observers were recognized as completely transparent, free and fair, and as a result, the internal political crisis in Armenia was overcome. He indicated that the priorities of the Armenian government's program are to strengthen the rule of law, including the fight against corruption, peace and development for the Armenian people, as well as for the entire region.
