ArmInfo. At the moment, Armenia does not conduct any negotiations with Azerbaijan on the signing of a peace treaty. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this on August 31 in Moscow at a press conference following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov when asked to comment on Azerbaijan's side statement on the need to sign a peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku, in which the Armenian side recognizes the "territorial integrity" of Azerbaijan.
"Instead of the Azerbaijani authorities, I would concentrate on the implementation of the agreements already reached, within the framework of the trilateral statements of November 9, 2020 and January 11 of this year.
At this stage, no negotiations are under way on a peace treaty. And if such things ever begin, then their obligatory part should be the question of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, based on the principles already fixed by the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, "Mirzoyan said. In turn, Lavrov stated that this issue concerns relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and he would allow himself not to comment on it. "I will only express the opinion that any steps that will contribute to the settlement of disagreements and finding mutual understanding between Armenia and Azerbaijan, we will welcome," the Russian minister summed up.
To note, the Azerbaijani authorities continue to insist on the signing of a peace agreement between Yerevan and Baku, in which the Armenian side recognizes the "territorial integrity" of Azerbaijan. To achieve this goal, the AR authorities arrange various kinds of provocations.
