Robert Kocharian`s defense seeks cancellation or reduction of selected bail

ArmInfo. On August 30, the Yerevan Criminal Court of Appeal chaired by Judge Narine Hovakimyan continued hearings on complaints from lawyers and prosecutors to discontinue the case on the alleged overthrow of the constitutional order. The defense side of the second President Robert Kocharian submitted a motion to cancel or reduce the amount of the bail.  It should be reminded that by a court decision in June 2020, Robert Kocharian was released on bail in the amount of 2 billion drams.

Lawyer Hovhannes Khudoyan noted that by the decision of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan on the termination of criminal prosecution on the basis of article 300.1 most of the reasons for the establishment of the specified preventive measure have been eliminated. Defender Hayk Alumyan, in turn, stated that after the termination of the criminal prosecution under Article 300.1, a new situation has developed - those suspicions on which the measure of restraint and the amount of bail were previously chosen are significantly reduced.

Consideration of complaints will continue at the next court session - at 10:30am on 15 September.
