ArmInfo. UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay sent a congratulatory message to Nikol Pashinyan on his appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
As reported by the press service of the Prime Minister, in the message, in particular, Azoulay expressed gratitude to Armenia for its firm commitment to promoting the values enshrined in the UNESCO Charter.
"As an advocate of diversity, Armenia has been closely cooperating with UNESCO since joining this organization in 1992, in particular, to develop international cooperation aimed at ensuring accessible education for all, preserving cultural heritage, sustainable development and freedom of expression. I fondly recall our meetings in Yerevan during the 17th French-language summit of heads of government in October 2018, as well as during the 40th session of the UNESCO General Assembly in Paris in November 2019, during which we exchanged views on Armenia and the prospects for strengthening cooperation, including through the Matenadaran Research Institute, which is listed in the Memory of the World Register for its work in preserving ancient manuscripts.
In the context of ongoing global challenges such as a new type of coronavirus and climate change, UNESCO, in collaboration with Member States, is playing a vital role in addressing pressing issues in education, science, culture and communication, "the message reads. The Director-General of UNESCO expressed confidence that the existing close cooperation between Armenia and UNESCO will be further strengthened during your second term in office. "I assure you that I, for my part, will make every effort to achieve this goal. Once again, I congratulate and wish you all the best," the message reads.
