ArmInfo. The "I Have Honor" and "Armenia" parliamentary factions issued a joint statement in which they strongly condemned the violence against MPs, which took place on August 24 in the National Assembly.
The statement of the opposition also notes: <24 August will become one of the most shameful pages in the history of parliament, when, following the illegal instructions of a group of people representing the authorities, a crime against democratic values was committed in the country's legislative body. The propaganda of violence andthe environment of hatred in Armenia have one source - the Civil Contract party, which is headed by Nikol Pashinyan. We will show consistency in bringing to political and legal responsibility those who have committed a crime today>.
As ArmInfo previously reported, on August 24, a fight broke out in the Armenian parliament during questions and answers after the presentation of the 5-year government program. This happened after Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan invited the NA security officers to the sitting hall and instructed to take the MP out. The oppositionists defended their colleague, and the security forces, using disproportionate force, took Karapetyan out of the conference room. She suffered bodily harm. Another oppositional MP Artsvik Minasyan was injured. The latter said that the head of the state security guard and his subordinates hit him. The MP's shirt was torn. He announced his intention to contact the law enforcement agencies of the country.
The Ombudsman criticized this behavior in the Armenian legislature, recalling his direct mission to serve the law and the needs of society.
