ArmInfo. The reproductive rate of the coronavirus in Armenia has reached 1.3%. Head of the Department of Epidemiology of Infectious and Noncommunicable Diseases, National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Armenia Romella Abovyan informs.
In this regard, she noted that the increase in this indicator indicates the rate of spread of the virus. "If measures are not taken, in the next 7 days we will have 3,460 new cases of infection, of which 30% will be hospitalized, 3% will be in intensive care," Romella Abovyan said.
She noted that over the past 2 weeks, the increase in cases of infection was 53%. If two weeks earlier there were 145 cases of coronavirus per 1000 people in Armenia, then, according to Abovyan, today there are 230 cases of infection per 1000 people in the country. She said that the acceleration in the rate of infection is observed in all age categories, and in all regions of the country. However, the highest rates of spread of the virus were recorded in the capital. Referring to the criteria of the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, Abovyan noted that Armenia is in the "red zone".
To recall, the virus reproductive rate in the country in June this year was 1.1%.
To note, as of 11:00am on August 23, in total, 237,885 cases of coronavirus infection (15.9%) were detected in the Republic, 224,493 people (94.3%) recovered, and 4,762 (2%) died. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, 1,489,110 coronavirus tests have been carried out in Armenia.
