ArmInfo. The current crisis of political thought in Armenia is caused by the erroneousness of our own thinking on the most diverse vectors of social and political life in the past. Political scientist Stepan Danielyan expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.
"Our erroneous ideas about political and geopolitical realities in the past need to be fundamentally comprehended today, at least in order to avoid their repetition in the future. One of the deepest delusions, in this light, is the view that Armenia's problems with Azerbaijan and Turkey are solely due to the Artsakh issue," he stressed.
Meanwhile, following the results of the second Artsakh war, in his opinion, it seems possible to state the absence of any prerequisites for the establishment of good-neighborly relations with both Turks and Azerbaijanis. Meanwhile, the real reason for such a situation, according to the political scientist, is the geopolitical situation in the region.
"Some people stubbornly refuse to understand that Armenia continues to remain a bone in the throat, a watershed between the modern Turkic world. Being a wedge between Turkey and Azerbaijan on the one hand and the Central Asian countries on the other, Armenia continues to hinder their free "communication". And it is this, rather than Artsakh, the real reason for the unwillingness of Turks and Azerbaijanis to establish good-neighborly relations with us. And this is the whole geopolitical interest, the significance of which, whether we like it or not, Armenia still represents for the world," he stressed.
As another misconception, the political scientist stressed the idea of the existence of good, soft countries in the international community among Armenians, which are guided by exceptionally high humanistic ideals and values, who will never allow the repetition of the Armenian genocide in the 21st century. Meanwhile, in the real world, everyone has always been guided and continue to be guided exclusively by their own, specific interests. And at the core of any external support to Armenia can be exclusively specific interest and the possibility of obtaining specific benefits.
"Today we are faced with the concrete consequences of such a way of thinking, both in foreign and domestic policy. And our main problem today is not even these consequences, but whether the Armenian society has realized all this and has drawn the appropriate conclusions. The whole question, the whole the problem is whether our society understands or does not understand these simple truths, "Danielyan summed up.
