ArmInfo.At the suggestion of Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, by the decree of RA President Armen Sarkissian, Zhirayr Poghosyan was relieved of his post as Commander of the 1st Army Corps. The corresponding decree was published on the website of the head of state.
The reasons for the dismissal were not specified. It is known that Poghosyan led the 1st Army Corps in June 2018, after the velvet revolution in the RA. The media also report that Poghosyan was one of those who advocated the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan.
To note, personnel purges have begun in the field of state bodies, and all "objectionable" ones with oppositional views are removed from their posts.
