ArmInfo. The content of the first two weeks of the sittings of the 8th convocation of the National Assembly clearly demonstrated how Nikol Pashinyan and his team have been reaping the fruits of their own work over the past three years. A similar opinion was expressed to ArmInfo by head of the International Center for Human Development Tevan Poghosyan.
"For three years these people have divided society into white and black, former and current, red and white, and today they do not like being called capitulators. Pashinyan personally became the initiator and, accordingly, responsible for all this, and I do not think that the label attached to him as a capitulator violates parliamentary ethics.
The actions of the ruling force in response to the voicing of such terms addressed to him Poghosyan assesses as unconstructive, since they start not from the desire to protect the law and legality, but from the desire to protect their leader. In his opinion, to this end, as of today, the "Civil Contract" is trying to strengthen its own positions and, fighting against the use of political terms today, is working to establish a dictatorship tomorrow.
Poghosyan believes that by their actions the ruling party and personally Speaker of the Parliament Alen Simonyan put themselves above the law in the legislative body, which is nonsense. And he could " get rid of the disagreements " as Simonyan urges, by resigning, which, in the expert's opinion, would be the best way out of the situation that had developed within the walls of parliament.
"Of course, in connection with the removal of its MP from the Parliament Hall, the opposition may demand the formation of an ethics commission in order to discuss the legality of such actions of the Speaker. However, its decision will turn out to be quite predictable, given the composition of the current parliament. In any case, under such conditions, the work of the new parliament cannot be effective. The main reason for the emergence of such a situation was the holding of early elections in the context of an internal political crisis," Poghosyan summed up.
It should be noted that following the results of the first two weeks of the work of the 8th convocation of the National Assembly of Armenia, we have to record the absolute unwillingness of the people's representatives to participate in the discussion of the accumulated external and internal problems of the country. With very rare exceptions, parliamentarians use the NA rostrum for mutual accusations, reproaches, hints and swearing. Moreover, we are talking about all three parliamentary factions without exception. Moreover, in a strange way, representatives of the opposition "Hayastan" and "I Have Honor" blocs shy away from demanding the ruling Civil Contract party to disclose the current negotiating agenda with Azerbaijan and Russia, preferring to focus on interpersonal issues.
