
ArmInfo.CSTO representatives are concerned about the increase and expansion of the geography of armed incidents on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan. According to TASS, this was announced by the press secretary of the organization Vladimir Zainetdinov, referring to the results of the meeting of the CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas with the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.
"Of course, we believe that the incidents on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border that you are talking about pose a threat to the security of Armenia. If we talk about the ways of solving the problem, we think that the possibilities of a political solution to this situation are not exhausted. In fact, it would be the best an option for everyone, "Zainetdinov quoted Zas as saying. The CSTO Secretary General stressed that the tension that has arisen negatively affects security in Armenia and in the CSTO area of responsibility as a whole, moreover, complicates the implementation of the peace agreements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan dated November 9, 2020 and January 11, 2021.
"Stanislav Zas also stressed that ensuring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the member states is one of the key priorities of the CSTO," Zainetdinov said.
It is reported that during the meeting, the parties also discussed preparations for the events scheduled for September: the session of the Council of the collective security and a joint meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers, CMO and CSSC in Dushanbe, as well as the upcoming transfer of the chairmanship of the organization to Armenia. "In this regard, the Secretary General informed about the preparations for the sessions and emphasized the active and interested position of Armenia in the CSTO," Zainetdinov said.
According to him, Zas stressed that 2022 is an anniversary year. "We plan to sign a decision" On the plan of events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 20th anniversary of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, "the CSTO Secretary General said. According to the CSTO press secretary, it is planned to sign a number of other documents, including the declaration of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
